For those of you that didn't see the news, On January 1st, 2021, Xfinity ended the current “Unlimited” bandwidth service in the New England States. There is now a data cap in effect. Customers can add a “NEW” unlimited service to their plan. Is this ethical? Xfinity increase bandwidths in the area to lead people to this point to pay more for thier already "unlimited" service. Great being a monopoly in a community isn't it, that way you can charge what you want and nobody can do a thing about it.

For those of you that didn't see the news, On January 1st, 2021, Xfinity ended the current “Unlimited” bandwidth service in the New England States. There is now a 1.2 TeraByte data cap in effect. You will be charged $10 for every 50GB you go over this allowance. The fee currently maxes out at $100 per month, but had been $200 a month in other states prior to the pandemic. Customers can add a “NEW” unlimited service to their plan for $30 a month to avoid the $100 per month charge.
In recent days, due to public and governmental actions, Comcast/Xfinity have decided to delay their increase in profits from the New England area until 2022. The public needs to keep the pressure on this monopoly and their greed. More information can be found below, specifically for Massachusetts but applies to all of New Englad area:
Comcast / Xfinity Data Bandwidth Cap – Massachusetts - Price IncreaseDo you need Cable TV?
The next generation is not expected to have standard Cable TV or Satellite TV in their homes. They will be using a broadband service and streaming the content of interest.
There are several services that make this possible:
Sling Media
Amazon Prime
Netflix
Roku
and the list goes on
Digital TV services will be streamed across the internet avoiding costly "hookup" fees as well as costly service calls when there are problems. A broadband connection will still be required, this can still be obtained through the local cable company or some third parties offer DSL or Wi-Fi services.
Be careful as some Wi-Fi services have bandwidth limits per month. This is true for both Satellite as well as Fixed Point wireless services.
