Do you need a Home Phone?

With the prevalence of cellphones as well as broadband services, Home Phones may not be a useful as they once were 20 years ago. Now, in a matter of seconds a free "call" can be made to anyone in the world with an internet connection.

Alternatives to a Home Phone service might include:

Cell Phone service (will provide 911 service)
Skype
SIP based digital calls
Magic Jack
and the list goes on

For some of these a broadband connection will still be required, this can be obtained through the local cable company or some third parties offer DSL or Wi-Fi services.

Be careful as some internet based digital phone services may not provide 911 service, keep this in mind with your service selection.
